Welcome to the new Chicken System's Translator and Sample Conversion Discussion forum!

This forum gives people an opportunity to discuss different sample conversion and format issues, and ask questions regarding our Translator product.

If you look at any sampler feature list, the ability to load many different formats is one of the top 5 things that make the sampler a powerful one. It's important to know that your sampler can load sounds that have been created from a multiplicity of sources.

Back in the days of only a handful of hardware samplers, and Akai as the de facto universal standard, this wasn't such an issue. Now, with tens or hundreds of samplers, and native and 3rd party convertors existing, it's almost vital! Not only is just the simple capability important, but the quality of the conversions and the ease of use factors in as well.

-You might want to post here if you have a question on what format of library to get for your sampler to get the best results.

-You might want to post here if you aren't getting the best results from a native convertor of a sampler, and want to know why.

-You might want to check in if you know a lot and want to help out other people.

-You might want to post here if you wanted to know how to do a particular function in Translator.

-You might want to post here if you wanted to know when Translator will be ported to Linux.

From our standpoint, we had various reasons to start this forum, but different things we wanted to avoid. Here's a couple:

We didn't think a Translator-company forum would be useful in and of itself. Some companies become very self-obsessed and think the world revolves around their product. We think that\'s boring! What\'s important is that the end-user has a place to talk about formats, conversions, and what would help them. So that's why this forum isn't only called "Chicken System's Translator", but more importantly can serve as central area where people can get the best and most up-to-date information about loading their favorite sounds, no matter what format they are in. That ISN'T boring!

In that same vein, we know that Translator isn't the only convertor program out there, so we don't mind posts that reference those other products. The most important thing is that this forum answers peoples questions and supplies helpful and accurate information. However, do keep in mind that this forum is sponsored by Chicken Systems and we reserve the right to focus the discussions somewhat with Translator in mind.

We also didn\'t think a forum that centrally relayed around customer service issues would be beneficial, as those are usually individually oriented. (Questions like "I can't find my codes" or "The CD isn't installing the program...") So with those type of questions, please email support@chickensys.com and we answer emails on a 24-hour timeframe.

So, feel free to post whatever, but...

We'd like to avoid two types of questions, to avoid too much vitriol:

1) Does Translator (or xxx, or any program) support translating into SuperDuper Sampler? and

2) When (emphasis on the "when") will Translator support SuperDuper sampler?

Regarding 1), there are links for all programs including Translator that answer these questions, and regarding 2), the same answer applies - "it's in development." This forum won't a place to get release information beyond what is available at our site. Yeah, you can tempt us, but we won't give it; however, we might say a couple things that we believe are pertinent, but only on a limited basis.

We would like to use this forum to give release information when it does happen, and as an opportunity to ask questions of you and see what your pulse is, what you need. We\'ll also use this forum to point out different things about Translator that people may not know about, that you might find useful.

We get lot's of e-mails and calls every day, and we'll sometimes post some of these "in proxy" so the best information can be posted here.

Also we'll be putting up Tips and Tricks on a regular basis.

This is really YOUR forum (cliche alert!!), so please feel free to ask questions and banter about.
